The Greater Manchester Spatial Framework (GMSF) was withdrawn in December 2020 after Stockport Council voted against the plan, meaning it could not proceed with the necessary universal support from all 10 Greater Manchester boroughs.
The nine remaining boroughs decided to press ahead with a revised joint plan, renamed "Places for Everyone" (PfE). Meanwhile, Stockport is now responsible for creating its own independent Local Plan to meet government-set housing targets.
